Curse of the Golden Flower: Production was a bit over the top, but a great story. Doubt many Americans or Westerners will get it, too much Christian influence. The Greeks, Romans, Indian, Egyptians would have loved it.
Little Miss Sunshine: Losers of the world unite! Great movie, top to bottom.
Apocalypto: Gibson maybe be psychologically unhinged, but he brings this violent, pagan world to life with respect and care.
The Good Shepherd: Great old fashioned cold-war spy tale, reminds me a bit of John le Carre. Dark, depressing, makes me glad I'm not a spy.
Saraband: Begrman does it again. Deep, painful, poetic, at times perverse. A bit stagey, but brilliant.
How did you meet your current, or most recent, significant other?
I don't believe in Kismet, or Fate. Car stolen - went to church with roommate - she went with friend. Both visiting, met, married - 13 years in June
What are your top 25 most played songs?
Submitted by Cooxie.
Just got a new mp3 player, so am busy loading some things up. Other than podcasts I've mostly been listening to a lot of opera. Jon Vickers has a great couple of cd's - Italian arias and my song resounds. Vickers is always an interesting tenor when it comes to opera because he brings such a unique interpretation to everything he does. Also been listening to some duets as well as Das Lied von der Erde. Some occassional Johnny Cash and the Brave Combo - oh and Dave Brubeck.
What's your favorite restaurant?
Used to be Compass Cafe in Portland, but they're not around anymore. Love Romo La Jarra in Portland also. If I had to eat in a restaurant everyday, it would probably be one of Bobby Flay's or Mario Battalli's in NYC.
